Mumbai: In the wake of killing of Senior NCP leader Baba Siddique in Mumbai late of Saturday evening, security has been beefed up outside Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde 's residence at Malabar Hill in the city, on Sunday.

The shocking assassination of the former Maharashtra minister NCP leader Baba Siddique has raised serious concerns about the law and order situation in the state, where assembly elections are set to take place next month.

Meanwhile, Siddiqui's body was taken to Cooper Hospital for post-mortem today. This incident has sent shock waves across the political circles in the country.

Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde 's First Statement

In an exclusive conversation with Republic Media Network on Saturday, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde said that while two accused have been arrested, one is still at large.

“Two suspects have been detained...One suspect is on the run, our police will nab him...Those involved in murder of NCP  leader Baba Siddique will not be spared,” said Shinde.

Baba Siddique Shot Dead

For the unversed, Baba Siddique died on Saturday after he was shot multiple times in Mumbai's Bandra by unidentified assailants. A former MLA, Baba Siddique was rushed to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. According to police sources, three assailants fired shots at Baba Siddiqui, leaving him critically injured. The firing took place outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddiqui's office near Colgate ground in Nirmal Nagar. The incident has triggered panic, raising concerns over the safety and security conditions in the state. 

Baba Siddique Murder: Police Arrest 2 Assailants

Meanwhile, Mumbai police have taken into custody two of three suspects involved in the firing. The arrested accused have been identified as Karnail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap, both residents of Haryana and UP, respectively.
