Republic TV has learnt that Congress president Rahul Gandhi's brother-in-law Robert Vadra had planned to travel abroad ahead of his court hearing in the money laundering case in which he is being probed.

A day after 2019 Lok Sabha election exit polls projected that Congress would suffer a heavy defeat, Robert Vra h filed an application seeking permission to travel abro. However, he insisted on keeping his travel plans a secret, alleging a threat to his life. Vra submitted his travel itinerary to court in a sealed envelope, Republic TV has learnt.

Suspecting that Vra could influence witnesses in money-laundering case, Enforcement Directorate has been opposing his anticipatory bail plea in matter. ED has also told Delhi High Court that while Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi's husband has joined probe, he has not been cooperating with investigative agency.

Meanwhile, a single-judge bench of Justice Chandershekar will hear Enforcement Directorate's (ED) petition seeking to set aside a trial court's order granting anticipatory bail to Vra in connection with a money laundering case against him, on May 27. Claiming that Vra has been evasive during investigation, probe agency on Friday pushed for custodial interrogation through its plea.

During hearing, ED will also be highlighting sensational sting operation that Republic Media Network's SIT conducted on close aides of Robert Vra - brors Mahesh Nagar and Lalit Nagar. During sting operation, both brors boasted about ir closeness to Vra-Gandhi family. On sting camera, Mahesh Nagar termed his relations with Vras as “family relations”, while Lalit Nagar said that he “kept meeting” Priyanka Gandhi and Robert Vra because he was “very close to m”
It is also suspected by ED that if granted bail, Vra could attempt to contact and influence Nagar brors who spilled beans regarding his association with him and land deals struck by him.
