Arrested For Bomb Threats, Serial Hoax Mailer Wanted PMO to Publish His Book on Terrorism

New Delhi: A man identified as Jagdish Uikey, 35, was detained in Nagpur, Maharashtra , for sending nearly 100 emails targeting Prime Minister's Office (PMO), top government officials, and various flights and trains across India.

Uikey, from Gondia, a Maoist-affected district, reportedly aimed to publish a book titled 'Atankw-Ek Tufaani Rakshash' (Terrorism: A Demonic Storm).

Since January, Uikey has been emailing PMO and or officials to seek endorsement for his book, which he described as a collection of ories on terrorism, though authorities te material appears to be largely sourced from internet. According to Lohit Matani, Nagpur DCP for cybercrime, Uikey became frustrated when his requests were igred and escalated his approach by issuing hoax warnings.

As per reports, Nagpur Police Commissioner Ravinder Singal said that Uikey's initial intent appeared to be genuine; he repeatedly contacted PMO to promote his book. However, when his appeals went unanswered, he began sending false alerts out of exasperation. In his messs, Uikey included warnings about sleeper cell activities in India, often citing US security alerts to bolster his claims.

Uikey h previously drawn police attention, being questioned on two occasions—once for objectionable emails and ar time for filing a complaint alleging connections between job seekers and PMO. Each investigation by crime branch concluded without charges.

suspect’s emails were often coded, using abbreviations like “M” for markets, “R” for railways, and “A” for airlines, making it difficult for authorities to interpret his threats.

Recently, on October 28, Uikey reportedly entered PMO in Delhi to deliver documents, though ties to any terrorist organization have been found. Nagpur Cyber Police are currently holding him in custody, where he is said to be frequently changing his story.
