Seven-time Congress MLA Ramalinga Reddy confirmed among Cong-JD(S) mass resignations that have left Karnataka government on the brink

Among the alleged resignations, Congress' Ramalinga Reddy has confirmed that he handed over his resignation to the state Assembly Speaker K. R. Ramesh Kumar in Bengaluru amid the crumbling government of Karnataka.

Among the alleged resignations, Congress' Ramalinga Reddy has confirmed that he handed over his resignation to the state Assembly Speaker K. R. Ramesh Kumar in Bengaluru amid the crumbling government of Karnataka. 

Seven-time Congress MLA, Ramalinga Reddy confirmed his resignation and expressed his discontent. He said that he was feeling 'neglected' over certain issues.

Furthermore stated that his daughter (Congress MLA Sowmya Reddy) will make her own decision.

He said, "I have come to submit my resignation to the speaker. I don't know about my daughter, she is an independent woman."

"I am not going to blame anyone in the party or the high command. I somewhere feel I was being neglected over some issues. That is why I have taken this decision," he added.

Reddy has been a seven-time Congress MLA in the BTM layout constituency in Bengaluru and has previously held the profile of the Karnataka Home Minister.

In June first week, Reddy wrote an open letter lasing out at Congress leadership over the party's loss in the elections.

He said that the party suffered a poor defeat in the Lok Sabha elections due to the lack of the Congress Party's elderly presence in the state government and the lack of organizational vision of some Congress ministers.

He further said that the party's leading members and supervisors of the state have stumbled on party's internal problem, adding that the coalition government of Congress-JD(S) also lost electoral passion due to lack of communication.

Earlier on Friday, in a huge jolt to the Congress-JD(S) coalition government in Karnataka, three JD(S) and five Congress MLAs have handed over their resignation to the state Assembly Speaker K. R. Ramesh Kumar in Bengaluru, as per sources.  H Vishwanath, Mahesh Kumthalli, BC Patil, Ramesh Jarkiholi, Shivaram Hebbar, Narayan Gowda, Pratap Gowda. The resignation is reportedly yet to be accepted by the Speaker. Kumar has allegedly cited health reasons and left from his Speaker's chambers. 

Three more Congress MLAs-  Byrathi Basavaraj, ST Somashekar, and Munirathna are reportedly set to submit their resignations, triggering a mass resignation. Two more Congress leaders are poised to resign from their posts, as per sources.
