Several migrant workers in Ghaziabad stay back in hope of getting jobs

Less than half of the migrant workers who had registered their names to head back home turned up for travel in Ghaziabad on Thursday, officials said.

Less than half of migrant workers who h registered ir names to he back home turned up for travel in Ghaziab on Thursday, officials said.

A total of 881 workers h registered ir names and destinations along with ir contact details two days back with authorities but only 348 people came to nine boarding points in district.

District Magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey told PTI that absentee workers were contacted on ir mobile phone numbers to kw reason behind t turning up at designated places.

Two such workers - Banait Singh and Phool Singh from Karauli district in Rajasthan replied that factories in Ghaziab have become functional w and y were hopeful of securing jobs in units, DM claimed.

In last three days, 5,253 industrial units have started functioning in Ghaziab which could be a possible reason for many workers dropping idea to go back to ir native places.

Factory owners can start ir units without any permission by submitting an undertaking in office concerned, Pandey said.

DM along with SSP Kalanidhi Naithani monitored departure of migrant labourers and ensured sanitisation of buses and provision of food for ir trip back home.
