In an exclusive interview with Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, Shankaracharya Shri Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati of Jyotirmath made a passionate appeal for India to take decisive action to protect Hindus in Bangladesh. He emphasized the need for India to open its doors to Hindus fleeing persecution in the neighboring country.

"India must take strong steps to protect Hindus. Hindus must be protected in Bangladesh. The Bangladesh government must not forget that thousands of Bangladeshis live in India," Shankaracharya said during the interview. He highlighted the historical context of the India-Pakistan partition, which was conducted along religious lines, and noted that minorities were assured of security but were still targeted.

India must open her doors for persecuted Hindus, says Shankaracharya

The spiritual leader urged the Indian government to allow Hindus from Bangladesh to seek refuge in India, offering to support them without burdening the government. "We request the government to provide land and security for them, and we will take care of their food and other requirements and won’t let the burden come on the government," he stated.

Shankaracharya also reiterated the importance of India as a safe haven for Hindus worldwide. "Hindus should be ensured that India is the land for Hindus, and if they come from any part of the world, they will be welcomed," he said, expressing solidarity with the Hindu community in Bangladesh. "We stand united with the Hindus of Bangladesh," he affirmed.

The interview underscores the ongoing concerns about the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh and the responsibility that Shankaracharya believes India holds in providing them refuge.
