Rift in Maha Vikas Aghadi over portfolio allocation? Sharad Pawar hints at further delay

Hinting at a possible delay in portfolio allocation, Sharad Pawar revealed that the Maharashtra CM would declare the portfolios later in the day or on Jan 3.

Amid delay over allocation of portfolios to ministers in Maharashtra, NCP chief Shar Pawar on Thursday stated that final decision pertaining to same h alrey been taken. He revealed that Maharashtra Chief Minister would declare portfolios later in day or on  morning of January 3. Moreover, he stressed that re was pressure from anyone regarding this.  

Shar Pawar remarked, “Today, I re that re is pressure regarding allocation of portfolios. re is pressure whatsoever. All decisions pertaining to portfolios have been taken. I think that Chief Minister will declare portfolios today evening or tomorrow morning.”

'Tried to give an opportunity to new generation' 

Maintaining that taking a few days for portfolio allocation was rmal, NCP chief pointed out that parties h alrey decided portfolios that y would get more than a week ago. Pawar observed that respective parties h to w allocate portfolios to ir MLAs who h taken oath as ministers. He also mentioned that younger generation h been given an opportunity in Cabinet expansion.

NCP supremo opined, “Two days (delay) is rmal. It is a government consisting of three parties. Fortunately, decision pertaining to which portfolios will go to which party has been taken 8 days before. w, that party has to allocate work to those who have taken oath as ministers. We have tried to give an opportunity to new generation.”

Trouble in Maha Vikas Aghi camp

Wednesday witnessed a series of meetings between all Maha Vikas Aghi partners to reach a conclusion on allocation of portfolios. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Revenue Minister and Congress state president Balasaheb Thorat mitted to infighting in his party over Cabinet expansion. He conceded that re was disappointment in Congress ranks as number of MLAs interested in becoming ministers were much more than number of ministries allocated to party.

Later in day, Maharashtra Deputy Minister Ajit Pawar revealed that portfolios of ministers could be declared by evening of January 2. He mentioned that list of guardian ministers for 36 districts of state h also been discussed in meetings with Congress and Shiv Sena. According to him, allocation of offices to ministers h also been finalised as per seniority.
