'She is of No Use to Me': Punjab Congress Chief Raja Warring Slammed Over Sexist Remarks For Wife

Bathinda: The Bhartiya Janata Party ( BJP ) slammed Punjab Congress leader Amrinder Singh Raja Warring over his sexist remarks about his wife and bringing up the topic of surkhi and bindi as a joke.

Warring during campaigning in Gidderbaha in support of his wife, Congress nominee Amrita Warring said, "Main ki karan. Oh taan savere chey bajjey surkhi-bindi laga ke ghar to chali jaandi eh. Tey raat de 11 bajjey vapas aoundi eh. Mere kammo tan gai, mere lai koi langdi labh deo, pher viah, bhog, jagratey ho jaangay (What should I do, she goes out at 6am wearing a lipstick and a bindi and returns at 11pm. She is of no use to me. She has gone out of my hands, find someone for me. After that, there will be marriage and ceremonies."

BJP Slams Warring

Reacting to Warring's remarks, Union Minister and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu said, "I was hearing a speech of Punjab Congress chief (Amarinder Singh) Raja Warring on some channel.  I was surprised to hear him...What is he trying to tell the women? He is saying that his wife (Amrita Warring - Congress candidate Gidderbaha Assembly by-election) sports a 'surkhi-bindi' and leaves home at 6 am and comes back at 11 pm. What does this mean?...You have used improper words to give a wrong message... You should apologise to all women. They are agitated with the message you want to give, that women who go out to work are of no other work...This shows your petty mindset...You have made a condemnable statement..."

Meanwhile, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala in a tweet said, "After Firhad Hakim now Raja warring of Congress makes shocking comment on women"

He further said, "what should I do, she goes out at 6 am wearing lipstick and a bindi and returns at 11 pm. She is of no use to me. She has gone out of my hands, find someone for me. After that, there will be marriage and ceremonies,” raja warring."

Shehzad further questioned if Congress will take action against the Punjab-based leader saying, "After Arvind Sawant, Irfan Ansari, Sunil Raut, Firhad Hakim Now this. Will Priyanka & Ladki hoon club open their mouth & sack him?"
