The Shiv Sena on Friday hit out at the BJP-led Maharashtra government over the construction of the Shivaji memorial and asked why it was unsuccessful in putting its stand on the issue before the Supreme Court.

This, Sena said, was despite fact that government never failed on or issues like "buying wins" in elections.

Sena said apex court has once again stopped construction of Shivaji memorial, ding that it was happening again and again which raised questions on wher government was serious about building of memorial.

Sena said while government me amendments in Constitution to give 10 per cent quota to ecomically weaker sections of general category and solved triple talaq issue similarly, issues of constructing a Ram temple in Ayodhya and Shivaji memorial in Mumbai remain unresolved.
"Is court coming between construction of memorial or is it that somebody, who does t want construction to take place, is using judiciary as a shield?" it asked in an editorial in party mouthpiece 'Saamana'.

Sena said project was worth Rs 3600 crore but government was t serious about it from start.

"Some ask what is use of memorials for Chhatrapati Shivaji and Balasaheb Thackeray. H Shivaji t been re, Pakistan's boundaries would have come to your doorstep and h Balasaheb t been re, even Hindus would have h to offer namaz," Sena claimed.
It termed as "shameful" issue of Shivaji memorial construction languishing in court.

"Why has government been unsuccessful in putting its stand before Supreme Court? government is never unsuccessful in issues like buying wins during elections. n why on this issue? On or issues, government takes political decisions swiftly. However, it is being a laggard in this," Sena editorial said.
Supreme Court has sought responses from Centre and Maharashtra government on a plea challenging a Bombay High Court order which h refused to restrain authorities from taking steps regarding proposed Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial project in Arabian Sea.

petitioner NGO, Conservation Action Trust, h moved high court challenging a February 23, 2015 order of Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) granting environmental and coastal regulation zone clearance to Rs 3,600 crore project in Mumbai.
It h sought interim relief that stay should be granted on order and authorities restrained from taking furr steps with regard to project.
