Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray has said his party is determined to curb growing "goondaism" in Vasai-Virar belt of Palghar district and sought support from voters to curb menace. dressing rallies in Thane and Palghar districts of Maharashtra on Thursday night ahe of October 21 assembly polls, he appealed to voters to give ar term to  ruling BJP-Sena alliance. Uddhav Thackeray said in view of complaints regarding growing "goondaism" in Vasai-Virar belt, he h chosen former 'encounter specialist' Preep Sharma to contest polls from Nallasopara constituency.

Uddhav Thackeray vows to end menace

Sharma, a former police inspector, opted for voluntary retirement from service earlier this year and later joined Shiv Sena. Sena has fielded him from Nallasopara seat on outskirts of Mumbai. "I have given you a policeman. w, it is for you to decide if you want a policeman or a 'chor' (thief) as your representative," he said, seeking support for Sharma in assembly polls. Sena got rid of opposition in April Lok Sabha polls and w it will oust all opposition MLAs from Palghar district.

Thackeray said he wants to free region of dahashw (terror). Sena chief said his party supports all development works in region. However, if se projects versely affect common man, party would t mind taking to streets in protest, he said. He said proposed satellite port at Whavan in Palghar district, planned by Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, will be scrapped if people oppose it.

Campaigning for Sena candidate and state PWD minister Eknath Shinde in Thane city, Thackeray said party h a lion's share in whatever work state government h done in last five years. Coming down heavily on opposition, he said Congress and NCP have issues or nda to speak about in upcoming polls.
