SIA arrests 10 from JeM OGW network in Kashmir who were allegedly recruiting students

The Kashmir agency- SIA said that overnight raids were conducted particularly for Jaish e Mohammed networks and 10 have been arrested with pieces of evidence.

State Investigation Agency (SIA) recently investigated crimes connected with terrorism and secessionism where y arrested ten identified persons who were part of On Ground Workers (OGW) modules who were taking instructions from Jaish terrorist commanders. recently constituted agency conducted overnight raids at ten different locations in various districts of south and central Kashmir with a prime focus on Pakistan-backed Jaish e Mohammed (JeM) terrorist outfit. 

In searches, besides arrests, cell phones, SIM cards, records to show use of banking channels and even a dummy pistol were seized. Among arrested persons, re is one at whose house four terrorists h been killed on 4th of April 2020. Apart from this, certain digital evidence has also been recovered which are sent to FSL for analysis while  arrested persons would be presented before  NIA court in Srinagar seeking permission for custodial questioning.

What were OGW members doing? 

module members were organised into sub-modules, in form of verticals, so that in event of detection of one member, bigger network does not get compromised. y h been painstakingly discovered through discreet surveillance in which corroborative intelligence capable of being converted to missible evidence in court was used to ascertain and confirm Jaish OGW membership of individuals. module could be connected to or modules through higher levels of JeM leership. ir discovery is likely as investigation rolls out in coming days.

What were se OGW networks doing? 

detected portion of module h been active in recruiting or young persons, arranging finances, transporting weapons in south and central Kashmir besides providing or logistic support. se OGWs were getting direct instructions from Jaish terror commanders. se OGWs were recruiting school and college-going students as few of m are students mselves.

Moreover, with this development, it is believed arrests and subsequent follow-up investigation would dent upper ground network of terrorist outfit and degre its ability to undertake terror activities across valley region.

Last month, SIA h filed its first charge sheet against nine people, including a Hurriyat leer, in a case related to "selling" of MBBS seats in Pakistan to Kashmiri students and using money to support and fund terrorism.
