Cricketer turned comedian turned politician Navjoth Singh Sidhu who was earlier amant to enter Pakistan via Attari Wagah Border h to eat humble pie when he was told that his political clearance was from Kartarpur Corridor only. Even before Sidhu could get political clearance, he h got Pakistani visa issued by Pakistan High Commission. Sidhu who was stripped off his ministerial berth in Captain Amarinder Singh government in Punjab has always been in thick of controversies. Sidhu, who h gone to take part in swearing-in ceremony of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, was seen hugging Chief of Pakistani Army Staff General Qamar Javaid Bajwa.

Sidhu, who said that he wanted to be part of first Sikh Jatha visiting Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, h said that he would want to go to Pakistan in vance by a day via Attari Wagah border and would return via Kartarpur corridor, was told that this was t possible and he can only use Kartarpur corridor for purpose.

When asked about Sidhu writing letters to Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) seeking clearance to visit Kartarpur Sahib, MEA spokesman h clarified that anybody who wanted to visit Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara h to follow a set procedure and h to first register on MHA website.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Kartarpur corridor that would let Sikh pilgrims from India have visa-free access to one of holiest Sikh shrines in Pakistan, final resting place of founder of Sikh faith Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, cabinet minister Harsimrat Kaur Bal, Hardeep Singh Puri, Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh are amongst those who were part of first Jatha that was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district. opening of Kartarpur Sahib corridor has been a long pending demand of Sikh community that was fulfilled by Modi led government. While speaking on inauguration function, Prime Minister exhorted people to follow path shown by Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
