Sikkim faces heavy snowfall, roads blocked, vehicular traffic disrupted
Sikkim has been witnessing snowfall since December that has turned the state into a winter wonderland. However, the snow has now disrupted vehicular traffic.

Sikkim has been witnessing heavy swfall since December which has turned state into a winter wonderland. However, heavy swfall has w disrupted vehicular traffic in state.
areas that have been most affected by it are Lachen, Lachung, and Yumthang, including ro to Gurudongmar Lake, in rth Sikkim. Swfall in se four districts has been a huge blow to state since all of se areas are also popular tourist destinations especially during swy months of winter.

Army continues rescue operations
In December 2019, Army h rescued around 1,500 tourists stranded due to heavy swfall in Nathu La in East Sikkim. On Thursday, Principal Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, h tweeted more pictures of rescue operations being carried out by soldiers in Lachung Valley in rth Sikkim.

swfall has t all been merry. It has led to collapse of roof of ‘Khamsel Lhakang’ at Tholung Buddhist Monastery in Upper Dzongu which is reported to be damd. However, even maintenance work at monastery has been stalled owing to ongoing prevailing wear conditions.

Himachal Presh hard hit
Even state of Himachal Presh has been hard hit by this year's winter season. Lack of modern equipment to clear swbound ros has thrown rmal life out of gear in many parts of state with power and water supply, more than three days since heavy swfall hit state. Himachal Presh government does t have a single sw cutting machine to clear sw accumulated on ros.
