New Delhi: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the sexual abuse charges against suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna is contemplating a potency test on Revanna. Prajwal Revanna was arrested by the SIT in the wee hours of Friday as he landed in Bengaluru.
The SIT formed by the Congress-led Karnataka government is probing the sexual assault case against Prajwal Revanna. The SIT is mulling the decision to subject the suspended JDS leader to a potency test, reported PTI.
What is Potency Test
Potency Test is a medical examination used in legal process to prove potency. It is used by the investigating agencies in sexual abuse cases to establish that the accused is physically capable of committing such crime. In multiple cases, accused have used the argument of being ‘impotent’ as a prime defence. Potency test involves three tests- semen analysis, penile doppler ultrasound and visual erection examination. Asaram and Nithyananda have underwent potency test in the past.
Prajwal Revanna Arrested
Prajwal Revanna, facing allegations of sexually abusing several women, was arrested on Friday by the SIT probing the case. As he landed in Karnataka's Kempegowda International Airport, he was taken into custody by the SIT.
Revanna had flown to Munich just hours before a FIR was lodged against him in the sleaze tape case. He had left for Germany on April 27, a day after Hassan went to polls. A 'Blue Corner Notice' seeking information on his whereabouts was issued by the Interpol earlier, following a request by the SIT via the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Revanna will be taken for medical test and security has been tightened at the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital in view of Prajwal's arrival for various medical tests including blood pressure, blood sugar level and cardiac health.
