Six Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Raping Woman in Odisha 5 Years Ago

Odisha: A court in Odisha's Kalahandi district sentenced six people to life imprisonment for raping a woman five years ago.

Dharamgarh ditional District and Session Judge Suresh Chandra Prhan pronounced verdict on Wednesday after examining witnesses and evidence, said public prosecutor Purna Chandra Nag.

convicted persons are Lalindra Sabar, Labanya Chatria, Anirudha Chatria, Prakash Naik, Santa Naik and Amit Naik.

Three or accused, who h allegedly me a video of crime viral on social media, were released due to lack of evidence, he said.

According to public prosecutor, victim was going home from Bhawanipatna town in September 2019, and at that time, Lalindra Sabar, who was known to woman, offered her a lift on his motorcycle.

On way to her residence, man along with his associates raped woman in a roside forest, he said.

y also videographed crime, and video clip was me viral on social media, public prosecutor said.

Later, Junagarh police registered a case on basis of a complaint lodged by parents of woman and arrested culprits, he ded.
