Skywalk Project Set to Soar Above Mawkdok in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills

Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conr K. Sangma announced launch of a 'skywalk project' in Mawkdok area of East Khasi Hills district.

Mawkdok is a famous viewpoint and a key stop for tourists exploring Sohra tourism circuit. Visitors to Mawkdok can enjoy breathtaking views of valley, flanked by lush green hills on both sides.

"Tourism is a very important part of our overall strategy for region. We are hopeful that DoNER Ministry would continue to support region to promote tourism", Chief Minister me announcement on Friday evening during Cherry Blossom festival.

Chief Minister expressed that government’s goal is to promote Meghalaya on global stage. He highlighted that partnership with Japan is very special and will elevate Cherry Blossom festival to new heights. He furr noted that this collaboration would help world discover Meghalaya, its rich culture, and its strong connections with or Asian nations.

chief minister thanked Japan for putting up 'Japan Arena' at Cherry Blossom festival venue that showcased cultural diversity, food, music and sports.

Declaring Japan Arena open, DoNER Minister Jyotiritya Scindia said, "It is great to be here in Meghalaya and witness energy and vibrancy of people of Norast. I am gl to see that Cherry Blossom Festival is taking on a new manifold proportion. Thank Japan for ir close relationship with India".

Scindia also lauded chief minister for his leership in promoting festival like Cherry Blossom. "I have not seen this level of energy in any concerts in India. Hats off to Conr and people of Meghalaya," Scindia ded.

He said that Meghalaya should not just be capital of music in India, but for Asia.

International fame and R&B icon Akon and legendary Boney M performed at festival on Friday at Bhoirymbong in Ribhoi district and enthralled audience with a scintillating performance.
