Union Minister Smriti Irani on Sunday said she is grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for encouraging the citizens to celebrate the daughters of India in his 'Mann Ki Baat' address. Taking to Twitter shortly after PM Modi's address, she said that recognition of the achievements of daughters of India and encouraging them will be a step forward from the Beti Bachao Bati Padhao movement launched by the government. Smriti Irani asserted that #BharatKiSmriti Irani said that #BharatKiLaxmi will highlight women who have paved way for women-led developmentLaxmi will highlight the initiatives taken by the women of new India in paving way for women-led development. PM Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat'

A day after returning from his 7-day US trip, PM Modi on Sunday addressed the nation in his monthly radio programme, urging them to celebrate the contributions of the Nari Shakti (Women Power) of India. PM Modi asserted that, on Diwali 2019, citizens share the talents and contributions of their daughters with the hashtag - #BharatKiLaxmi on social media in order to celebrate their spirit across the world. He added that daughters are the harbingers of luck and prosperity.

"This Diwali, let us welcome Goddess Lakshmi in a new way. In our culture, daughters are considered harbingers of luck and prosperity. This time, let us organise public functions to honour the daughter. Let us identify such daughters and honour them, take pride in them. Share their achievements on social media under the hashtag - #BharatKiLaxmi. it should be promoted in the same spirit as #SelfieWithDaughter," PM Modi said.

Smriti Irani extends festive greetings

On the occasion of the first day of Navratri, Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani took to Twitter and extends best wishes. She also urged the nation to celebrate the power of Nari Shakti, in the light of the clarion call made by PM Modi to acknowledge and honour the 'Nari Shakti' of New India.
