Smriti Irani lambasts Akhilesh Yadav for seeking Mamata's support; 'WB CM insulted UP'

Ahe of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's arrival in Uttar Presh to campaign for Samajwi Party, Union Minister Smriti Irani hit out at Akhilesh Yav. dressing an election rally in Jewar on Monday, Irani alleged that Banerjee h "insulted" people of UP during WB election campaign. Questioning Yav over rationale to seek TMC supremo's support, she contended that this was an indication of SP's failure to garner people's confidence on its own. 

Union Minister Smriti Irani remarked, "I heard from journalists that some people are coming from Bengal to support Akhilesh. I have heard that y will conduct a press conference saying that please support Akhilesh. w condition of SP is so b that y have to call everyone to tell people of Uttar Presh that please support (us). But ask  person with whom Akhilesh Yav is going to dress a press conference about way in which she insulted Uttar Presh from land of Bengal. During election, she said that she has objections to UP residents. She accused UP residents of fomenting unrest."

"Akhilesh, I want to ask what is necessity to seek her support who forgot glorious history of this state and openly insulted residents of state? What is compulsion that Akhilesh needs Mamata? But Akhilesh is definitely sending a signal that he cant get support of people on his own," she ded.

Mamata Banerjee to campaign for SP

Before leaving for UP, Mamata Banerjee told media at Kolkata airport that she h tried to convince Congress to ally with SP to avoid a split of opposition vote. However, this did t materialise as Sonia Gandhi-led party decided to contest all seats whereas SP forged an alliance with PSP(L), Mahan Dal, OP Rajbhar's SBSP, RLD and Apna Dal faction of Krishna Patel. Moreover, she confirmed that TMC shall t field any candidate in upcoming UP elections.

WB CM stated, “I am campaigning for Akhilesh Yav. He invited me. I want him to win. He has organizational setup. I want BJP to lose". Welcoming Banerjee on her arrival in Luckw later at night, Akhilesh Yav exuded confidence in SP-led alliance defeating BJP on lines of West Bengal. Both leers will dress a joint press conference at 11.30 am on Tuesday after which WB CM will interact with local TMC unit and n he back to Kolkata.
