South Central Railway observes week-long 'Swacchata Saptah' to mark 74th Independence Day
South Central Railway has launched a cleanliness drive 'Swacchata Saptah' across the six divisions of the zone, from August 10-16 to mark Independence Day 2020.

South Central Railway is conducting a special cleanliness drive 'Swacchata Saptah' from August 10 to August 16 to mark 74th Independence Day celebrations of our nation. SCR launched this campaign throughout six divisions of zone. This week-long cleanliness drive was observed upon instructions of Indian Railway Board.
'Swacchata Saptah'
SCR commenced 'Swacchata Saptah' that is being observed to celebrate Independence Day with a renewed spirit. Due to COVID-19 lockdown, Indian Railways have stopped operating regular passenger trains and only a limited number of special trains are running. This has given South Central Railway an opportunity to clean tracks and improve condition of stations in zone.

Under this initiative, SCR has focused on large-scale cleaning and disinfecting of railway stations, trains, toilets and drains among or things. Swacchata Saptah is being observed across six divisions of South Central Railway.

Environment and Housekeeping Manment (E&HM), under SCR Hequarters, is working in coordination with six divisional units of zone to ensure that 'Swacchata Saptah' has visible results. general manr of South Central Railways, Gajanan Mallya, has praised railway officials and staff who have taken part in campaign with enthusiasm and love in spite of coronavirus pandemic; ones who have taken risk to clean station during a health crisis that can put ir lives as risk. Gajanan Mally also recommended that officials, staff, and volunteers follow health and safety protocols while undertaking task. He vised people to wear masks and maintain social distancing while at it.

Railway Board instructed all zones of Indian Railways to organise a week-long cleanliness drive to hour nation on Independence Day. Earlier Jaipur railways also kickstarted cleanliness drive. y focused on cleaning track and drains. y also took an initiative to commence a drive against open defecation on railway tracks across all stations in division.
