South Korea's President Moon Jae-in has spoken in glowing terms about a gift sent to him by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Taking to Twitter, Mr Jae-in has posted a photo of himself wearing said gift, which he has described as 'some gorgeous garments'. He goes on to praise the 'modernized versions of traditional Indian costume' he received from his Indian counterpart, which he says is known as 'Modi-vest':
President Moon Jae-in also recounted an exchange that took place during his visit to India. Sharing the story on his social media account, he expressed his gratitude towards the Prime Minister of India for his 'kind gesture', with an image of all the different shades of vests he had received.
Furthermore, President Moon wrote that he was 'moved' by PM Modi's 'thoughtfulness' of tweeting in Korean upon becoming the 14th recipient of Seoul Peace Prize. He further congratulated Prime Minister Modi for the same.
Narendra Modi was awarded the Seoul peace prize for 2018 for his contributions in the development in both national and international economic sectors and reducing existing discrimination among the rich and the poor sections of the society.
The head of the Seoul Peace Prize Cultural Foundation, Kwon E-hyock made the announcement on Wednesday, October 24.
As per reports, the president of the selection committee said that they have gone through a deep scrutiny. Around 100 candidates were part of the nomination for this award which included various politicians, business leaders, religious leaders, scholars, journalists, cultural figures, artists, athletes.
PM Modi has not only became the 14th recipient of the peace prize but is also the first Indian to bag this award.
