Special CBI court to pronounce Babri Mosque demolition case verdict on September 30
In a major development, the special CBI court of Lucknow has fixed September 30 as the date to pronounce the judgment in Babri Masjid demolition case.

A special CBI court in Luckw has fixed September 30 as date to prounce judgment in Babri Mosque demolition case. Special CBI judge S K Yav will prounce verdict. court has directed all accused to remain present in court on that day for hearing order. re are 32 accused in case including former deputy PM LK vani, ex-CM of UP Kalyan Singh, BJP leers MM Joshi, Uma Bharti and Vinay Katiyar. date is in line with Supreme Court's direction.
What is Babri Masjid Demolition case?
In May 2017, special CBI court charged BJP leers LK vani, Murli Mahar Joshi and Union Minister Uma Bharti and ors with criminal conspiracy in Babri Masjid demolition case. delay in examination of eye-witnesses h been due to delay in framing charges against senior BJP leer Kalyan Singh - who enjoyed immunity as Goverr of Rajasthan. Singh h been Chief Minister of Uttar Presh when a mob demolished Babri Masjid in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992.

On April 19, 2017, Supreme Court h ordered special judge to conduct a day-to-day trial and conclude it within two years. Calling demolition of disputed structure a crime which shook "secular fabric of Constitution", apex court h allowed CBI plea on restoration of charge of criminal conspiracy against VIP accused. apex court h termed Allahab High Court's February 12, 2001 verdict dropping charge of conspiracy against vani and ors as "erroneous".

Earlier this year, top court set a new deline for special judge, asking him to deliver verdict by September. Before 2017 verdict of apex court, re were two sets of cases relating to demolition, going on in Luckw and Raebareli. first case involving unnamed "karsevaks" proceeded in a Luckw court while second set of cases relating to eight VIPs was being heard in a Raebareli court. cases were n clubbed.

charges against include - rioting, unlawful assembly, being guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object, promoting enmity between different groups, assertions prejudicial to national-integration, statements conducive to public mischief, apart from criminal conspiracy. special court has also framed charges against former BJP MP Ram Vilas Vedanti, Mahant Nrityagopal Das, Shiv Sena leer Satish Prhan, VHP leer Champat Rai, Mahant Dharmdas and B.L. Sharma - charging m with criminal conspiracy and IPC sections for damaging or defiling place of worship, deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outr religious feelings.

On December 6, 1992, a rally h been organised in n disputed Ram Janmabhoomi area where Babri Masjid stood - which attracted 1,50,000 karsevaks. rally - allegedly organised by BJP & VHP - turned violent when karsevaks attacked security personnel and demolished mosque. demolition caused communal riots which caused deaths of thousands.
