Raipur: Five individuals have been arrested for allegedly throwing stones at the Vande Bharat Express train during its trial run in Chhattisgarh , on Saturday.
The train, set to operate between Durg in Chhattisgarh and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, was due to be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
The incident occurred Friday morning at Bagbahara railway station while the train was returning from Visakhapatnam. Although no injuries were reported, the windows of three coaches sustained damage, officials said.
According to the on-duty Train Manager (TMR), the stone-pelting took place near kilometer markers 87-88, between the Komakhan and Bagbahara stations, and caused damage to coaches C2-10, C4-1, and C9-78.
The matter was immediately reported to the Principal Chief/Railway Protection Force (RPF)/MSMD by phone. A detailed report will follow.
The accused, identified as Shiv Kumar Baghel, Devendra Kumar, Jeetu Pandey, Sonwani, and Arjun Yadav, were arrested for their involvement in the incident, which resulted in the damage to the train's multi-layered windows.
A case has been filed against the accused under the Railway Act, 1989.
