Indian Sand Artist and Pma Shri Awardee Sudarshan Pattnaik on Sunday greeted nation on occasion of India's 71st Republic Day. Taking to Twitter, Pattnaik shared his sand art created at Puri beach at Odisha with me of 'I Love My India.'

71st Republic Day

As India celebrates its 71st Republic Day on Sunday, majestically grand celebrations at Rajpath will witness India's strong military might, a bright display of cultural richness & diversity, social, and ecomic progress on display for world to see. This year's Republic Day pare will see President Ram Nath Kovind hosting this year's Chief Guest President of Federal Republic of Brazil, Jair Messias Bolsonaro.

Unlike or Republic Day pares, this year's pare ceremony will mark first time when Prime Minister will visit newly built National War Memorial near India Gate inste of Amar Jawan Jyoti. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of entire nation will pay solemn tributes to martyrs of all armed forces by laying a wreath.

pare will begin with President Ram Nath Kovind taking salute. This year's pare will be commanded by Pare Commander, Lieutenant General Asit Mistry, General Officer Commanding, Hequarters Delhi Area. Major General Alok Kacker, Chief of Staff, Delhi Area will be Pare Second-in-Command.

Why is Republic Day celebrated?

Despite India gaining freedom from British rule on August 15, 1947, it did t come along with democracy or gave people right to choose ir own elected government. India didn't have an official Constitution n. However,  Constitution of India was opted on vember 26, 1949, and many considered it necessary to celebrate document on a day associated with national pride. 'Poorna Swaraj' day was best day ahe, January 26. It has since been celebrated as country’s Republic Day.
