Bollywood actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sunny Deol visited the Kartarpur corridor on Saturday. Speaking about this visit, the actor-politician said, "It was very good. I wish this is the start of our peace." He further stated that "It was a very special welcome." Taking to Twitter, Sunny Deol posted pictures of himself at the Gurudwara Kartapur Sahib in Pakistan.
PM Modi inaugurates Kartarpur corridor
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Integrated Check Post of the Kartarpur corridor on November 9, Saturday. Taking it to Twitter, he said that "it is an honour to inaugurate the corridor today." He also attended 'langar' at Dera Baba Nanak Gurudwara in Gurdaspur. Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh along with Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal gave the Prime Minister company.
About Kartarpur corridor
The 4.2-km long Kartarpur corridor is a border corridor between India and Pakistan that will connect the Sikh shrines of Dera Baba Nanak Sahib and Gurdwara Darbar Sahib. The inauguration facilitated the Indian Pilgrims to visit Gurudwara Kartapur Sahib in Pakistan. Indian pilgrims of all faiths and persons of Indian origin can use the corridor. The travel between both countries via the corridor will be visa-free. However, each visitor would be required to pay a fee of USD 20. India had requested Pakistan not to charge the Indian pilgrims but Pakistan refused to waive the fee. India and Pakistan signed the agreement on October 23, 2019.
