Suspected ISI agent arrested; foreign currency and electronic devices nabbed

Late in the night on October 26, a suspected ISI agent, Zahid was arrested in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. The arrest was initiated after receiving inputs from the Intelligence Bureau, and the suspect is being further questioned. Apparently, foreign currency and electronic devices were recovered from the suspect, who was allegedly indulging in anti-national activities. 

A joint investigation is being processed by Uttar Pradesh police department and Central Security Agency to extract the exact details. The police managed to recover a number of SIM cards and other evidences against Zahid, suspected to have been working for the Pakistani Intelligence Agency, ISI 

Earlier this month, a serving soldier of the Indian Army’s Signal Regiment from Meerut cantonment was arrested on the grounds of espionage. The arrest allegedly was carried on in connection with the arrest of the DRDO scientist.

The soldier was interrogated for his alleged accusation of passing sensitive information to the Pakistan Intelligence services about the Indian Army through social media channels. Further investigations were under progress by Army Intelligence authorities.

Prior to that, on October 8, another suspected ISI agent from Brahmos missile unit in Nagpur city was arrested by Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra ATS. The suspected agent was working with Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and was allegedly responsible for passing information across the border.

Identified as Nishant Aggarwal, he had been held for allegedly leaking Brahmos missile secrets. A Lucknow court sent the BrahMos Aerospace engineer to police remand for seven days. Aggarwal was working with BrahMos for nearly last 4 years.

Special Chief Judicial Magistrate Himanshu Dayal Srivastava had passed the order on an application moved by Inspector Pankaj Awasthi of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Uttar Pradesh Police. The ATS sought his custody from the court for the purpose of interrogation. Agarwal's lawyer opposed the remand, pleading that he was a young scientist who is being implicated as part of a "conspiracy".
