Hardline pro-Pak separatist leer Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Sunday resigned from Hurriyat conference saying that he would keep himself aloof from matters of conference. 90-year-old who is also former Chairman of Hurriyat Conference, in his letter expressed his desire to distance himself from Hurriyat due to 'present state and condition' of party. His resignation is being seen as a big setback to Pakistan and ISI whose nda Geelani propagated for years.
In recent times, separatist has been in news for suffering from ailing health. leer has been dealing with multiple ailments and has mostly been under house arrest at his residence in Hyderpora since 2010, though as stated in his letter, his anti-India activities continued. In three-p letter, Geelani accused current leership of Hurriyat for indulging in 'anti-party activities' and lack of 'accountability.'

Blaming internal politics of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Geelani in his letter to present Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that organisation was riddled with financial irregularities with its leers fearing loss of positions over anything else. He said that he h 'hopes' from Hurriyat to le community in Kashmir which failed.
Geelani ded that for years he tried to sideline shortcomings of Hurriyat but Hurriyat's 'anti-party' activities and decisions against party's own leership propelled him to completely disassociate himself from it. Affirming that he held accountability for Hurriyat, Geelani said that he distances himself from all decisions of separatist party from today onwards.
