Tamil Nadu: Animal skeleton remains unearthed in Manalur during excavation
The animal skeleton was discovered under the sixth phase of the excavations in Manalur, undertaken by Tamil Nadu State Depramrnet of Archaeology (TNSDA).

In a rare finding, skeletal remains of an animal have been uneard at Manalur, near Murai in Tamil Nu, ANI reported. skeletal was discovered under sixth phase of archaeological excavations, undertaken by Tamil Nu State Depramrnet of Archaeology (TNSDA). 6th phase, which aimed at excavation in areas of Keeli, Kondagai, Agaram, and Manalur near Murai, was inaugurated by state’s CM earlier this year.
excavation, which were initiated on February 19, were closed on March 24 due to coronavirus pandemic. However, as government restrictions eased, work in Malur resued on May 23 in Malur. As of w excavation ha led to a variety of animal including, weaving, animal husbandry, water manment belonging to 5th-century Tamil culture were recovered.

C-Shape furnace found
On June 3, site reportedly yielded a furnace-like structure that may belong to Sangam era. Deputy director of state archaeology department, R Sivanandam, who is heing sixth phase of excavation, speaking to media reporters said that furnace-like structure me of burnt clay was found at a depth of 60 cm has a diameter of one metre. However, he clarified that purpose of furnace would be determined only after excavating furr.
