Tamil Nadu govt has now moved to the Supreme Court after Madras High Court allowed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to carry out route marches across the state

Tamil Nu government has w moved to Supreme Court after Mras High Court allowed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to carry out route marches across state. MK Stalin-led regime will challenge High Court's order allowing organisation to take out its route march on rescheduled dates.

On February 10, bench of two judges of Mras High Court-- Justice R Mahevan and Justice Mohammed Shaffiq directed RSS to file fresh applications for carrying out ir march on three different dates. High Court directed Tamil Nu police to permit Sangh to take out route marches on mentioned dates in various districts across state on public ros with strict rms and regulations. judges released order citing that state must uphold citizens' right to freedom of speech and expression.

Row over RSS march

tably, in October 2022, RSS wanted to carry out a march on sidelines of 'Azi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' and Gandhi Jayanti but was denied permission by DMK-led government. RSS h n moved a contempt plea. In vember, Mras court gave permission after which march was pushed a month ahe and this time state police denied permission.  police authorities submitted that denial of permission was a policy decision based on intelligence reports. Once again RSS moved to High Court and has w been granted permission. 

Reacting to order, BJP spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy spoke exclusively with Republic Media Network and said, "This is a defeat for state government. We welcome court decision and order. It is a victory for democracy, people of Tamil Nu and RSS. We strongly criticised state government's denial of permission, we fought against it and w we have won."
