Tamil Nadu: Police arrests 10 Tibetans ahead PM Modi-Xi Jinping summit
Tamil Nadu police have arrested 10 Tibetans and detained over 40 to prevent the possibility of a protest against Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit.

Tamil Nadu police have arrested 10 Tibetans and detained over 40, to prevent the possibility of a protest against Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to Tamil Nadu for a summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the police, out of the total 42 detainees, 32 were let off after obtaining an undertaking from them to keep peace and refrain from any kind of protests. With the meeting around the corner, the police have made strong security arrangements in the city. PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold a summit between October 11 to October 13 at Mahabalipuram in Chennai.
The arrested Tibetans
According to reports, activist Tenzin Tsundue, who is also a noted writer and poet, was arrested on October 5 at Kottakuppam in Villupuram district for allegedly having "Free Tibet," publicity materials in his possession. He was sent to Puzhal jail the next day after his arrest. Another student activist, Dhondup and seven others including a woman were arrested at Selayur on Sunday, October 6. According to reports, they were produced before a court. Further, another man who is working as a lecturer at a college in suburban Chennai was arrested on Tuesday and sent to judicial custody. Other arrested persons that included some students and employed men and women, were allowed to go after they gave the undertaking to keep the peace.

PM Modi-Xi Jinping schedule
According to reports, PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to arrive at Chennai airport on the evening of October 11. PM Modi will be hosting a dinner for the Chinese dignitaries on the same night which will be followed by cultural programmes. On October 12, the leaders will be visiting cultural heritage sites which will be followed by a closed-door meeting. The meeting is expected to focus on the trade factors between the two countries.
