The NIA has reportedly suspected that the Tamil Nadu train accident in Tiruvallur was a result of sabotage, hours after the Mysuru-Darbhanga Bagmati Express train collided with a stationary goods train at Kavaraipettai railway station near Chennai, and hinted that the railway tracks were hampered with a hammer, the probe agency sources claimed.

As per the sources, the initial investigation has revealed that bolts and other compartments were missing from the track.

According to sources, the NIA suspects the accident may have been caused by track sabotage. Initial findings revealed missing bolts and other components from the tracks, raising suspicion of foul play. Also, the track is believed to have been hampered with a hammer. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.

The collision happened on Friday evening near Chennai at a few distance from the Kavaraipettai railway station, as the passenger train entered a loop line instead of getting onto the main line. A fire broke out in at least three coaches of the Mysuru-Darbhanga Bagmati Express train, while 13 coaches derailed. The Railways ordered a high-level probe on Saturday.
