Tata Sons moves Supreme Court over NCLAT order on Cyrus Mistry's reappointment
Tata Sons moved Supreme Court on Thursday challenging National Company Law Appellate Tribunal's order to reappoint Cyrus Mistry as the chairman of the company.

Tata Sons moved Supreme Court on Thursday, January 2 challenging reappointment of Cyrus Mistry as chairman of company. Mistry was reinstated as Executive Chairman of firm through an order of National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) on December 19. In its petition, Tata Sons sought a stay on NCLAT's order, at least until board meeting of Tata Consultancy Services which, reportedly, is scheduled for January 9.

NCLAT declares Mistry's ouster 'illegal'
In a big blow to company, Mistry was reinstated by company law tribunal after his ouster was declared “illegal” and appointment of his successor N. Chandrasekharan was quashed. tribunal, in its order, had stated that interest of mirity share holders was igred in “hasty” removal of Mistry as Chairman of Tata group. It also went on to say that Tata Sons was being “mismand”.

Mistry challenges removal
This ruling came following a plea filed by Mistry challenging his removal on ground that it violated articles of association of company. Tata Sons had refuted this claim stating that re were specified sections for an ouster under articles of association and that Mistry was ejected as directors had lost faith in him.
