Techie falls from 33rd floor in Bengaluru allegedly under influence of alcohol-Marijuana, dies

A techie died after falling from the balcony in an inebriated state allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

Bengaluru: A techie died after falling from the balcony in an inebriated state allegedly under the influence of alcohol while partying with his friends till the wee hours of the morning. The incident took place at around 6.45 am on Friday at Kodigehalli in Ayyappanagar, KR Puram in Bengaluru.

The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Dipanshu Sharma who is the son of an Army personnel and hails from Uttar Pradesh. Four people, including Sharma, had a party and is suspected that he allegedly consumed Marijuana along with alcohol.

A neighbour speaking to Republic on the condition of anonymity said, "There was music being heard through the night, but they kept it under permissible levels. The group were also loud, which established that multiple people were present in the flat. Post 4 a.m. in the wee hours, it went silent, but we heard screams in the morning. When we woke up, we saw there was somebody was lying dead. This doesn't do good to the society; it will send out a wrong message."

The deceased techie lived as a paying guest and had hosted a party at a friend's apartment on December 28. A case has been registered at KR Puram Police Station.

A police official speaking to Republic on the condition of anonymity said, "The first information came in from the security guard of the building who was informed by morning walkers - residents of the gated community. The complete details of his death will be ascertained after the post-mortem report. We have also interrogated his friends and at this point in time, foul play has been ruled out."
