Telangana BJP Chief censures unrest in Bodhan over Shivaji statue; 'Will stand by Hindus'

Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay condemned the 'attacks' on Hindus in Bodhan & alleged that they were attacked by the members of AIMIM, TRS & state police.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Telangana president Bandi Sanjay has condemned 'attacks' on Hindus in Bodhan, as he alleged that 'Hindu youths' in state were attacked by members of All India Majlis-e-Ittehul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and state police.

Earlier, tension gripped town of Bondhan in Nizamab district of Telangana over  installation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue and subsequently, state police were forced to impose Section 144 in area. It is pertinent to mention that BJP state president claims that y alrey h received permission from municipal authorities for installation of statue.

"Six months ago, Municipal Council passed a resolution to install a statue of Shivaji (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj) in Bodhan. As per resolution, statue was installed n why this opposition," questioned Bandi Sanjay, while speaking to news agency ANI.

"It is foolish to attack with stones. It is alleged that same thing happened in Bhainsa as in Bodhan," he ded.

Telangana BJP chief Sanjay hit out at  state police and posed a rhetorical question in front of officials, asking ''from where do y think Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj comes, from Pakistan or Banglesh.''  BJP leer sought a clear reason as to why state police thinks that statue should not be placed in area. BJP state president me it clear that he will support Hindus in this matter.  

'Statue was brought in at night and caused chaos': Nizamab Police Commissioner

Speaking about issue, Nizamab commissioner of police, K R Nagaraju said that re's a protocol that must be followed before installing a statue. He furr alleged that statue was brought in at night which caused disruption in area as various groups expressed that ir sentiments were hurt, and that y started pelting stones as statue was not allowed to be installed. Nizamab police commissioner furr ded that police were forced to resort to lathi-charge and in process, a few policemen also got injured.

" Shivaji statue was brought in night due to which a commotion was created. Various groups came out on ros saying that ir sentiments have been hurt and started pelting stones. In retaliation, we h to take refuge of lathi-charge and Section 144 has been imposed," Police Commissioner K R Nagarjun said.
