TSRTC protests: Telangana High Court gives permission to privatise 5,100 RTC routes

Telangana High Court has disposed of a writ petition that was filed against decision by state government to privatise 5,100 routes. decision comes as a major setback for employees of Telangana State Ro Transport Corporation who have been on a strike since 5th October.
While state government on Thursday decided to wait for High Court's decision in matter, court has given a verdict that is in favour of state government according to petitioner Prof PL Vishweshwar Rao.

Telangana govt held a discussion
Telangana government led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday, vember 21, held a discussion on strike carried out by employees of Telangana State Ro Transport Corporation (TSRTC) and decided that it will wait for High Court's order as judicature is presently hearing pleas on privatisation of several RTC bus routes. In a press statement, KC Rao said, " High Court is expected to give its verdict on privatisation of RTC routes on Friday, vember 22. State government has decided to take a final decision after High Court verdict and after taking into consideration all related issues".

TSRTC employees were rey to call off strike
As strike by Telangana State Ro Transport Corp. (TSRTC) employees entered its 47th day on Wednesday, unions said y were rey to call it off if state government was willing to take back 51,000-plus employees into service unconditionally. On October 5, employees were fired for going on a strike against government.

Telangana State Ro Transport Corporation (TSRTC) strike has been going on over a month w. employees started a strike on October 5. Transport Corporation Joint Action Committee has been demanding for merger of Regional Transport Committee with Telangana government. y are also asking for prohibition of electric buses. According to reports, ever since beginning of strike, more than 2,000 busses have remained grounded in State. After TSRTC employee, Srinivas Reddy, who died after allegedly immolating himself, protests also broke out in different parts of city and or places, with employees raising slogans and holding state government responsible for his death.
