Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao urges Centre to reopen CCI cement plant in Adilabad

The minister made a request to the Union Minister for Heavy Industries, Mahendra Nath Pandey to reopen the closed unit of the Cement Corporation of India.

Telangana Minister for Industries and IT KT Rama Rao urged to reopen closed unit of Cement Corporation of India (CCI). This request was me to Union Minister for Heavy Industries, Mahendra Nath Pandey in a letter by IT minister. plant, which is about 772 acres was located in ilab town in Telangana.

While providing details about plant, KT Rama Rao said that CCI plant in ilab commenced production at an initial cost of Rs.47 crore. plant was catering to cement requirements in Marathawa and Vidarbha region in Maharashtra and Telangana. It h stopped manufacturing in 1996 as per sanctioned scheme of Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction. minister also mentioned that plant was closed down by offering VRS to its employees in 2008. employees h approached court, and matter remained under status quo, with 75 employees still under rolls of company. plant h a live mining area of about 1500 acres with under 48 million tonnes of limestone deposits. Located in about 772 acres on outskirts of ilab town, plant has a township of 170 acres with approximately 400 quarters. unit also has a power supply of 32 KV, and water availability for plant continued to be re. Rao said, "Given strategic importance, I humbly request that steps may be initiated under your stewardship to revive and restart unit. State Government shall extend all necessary assistance as required in this endeavour."

Focus on increasing local employment 

During a meeting with management of cement factory, Rao h requested management of plant to increase local employment within ir units. Optimum support from state government was assured. 

A press release from Rao's office res, "He highlighted new industrial policy and stated that companies that employ locals will be given incentives in form of tax breaks". Rao also promised to set up a local skill centre focused on needs of cement industry. A special plan to develop Huzurnagar industrially was being taken up, minister ded.
