Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao has issued a high alert over a possible locust attack in state anytime between June 20 and July 5. chief minister has instructed official machinery to be rey and takes concerted measures on a war footing. KCR held a review meeting at Pragathi Bhavan in Hyderab on Wednesday to chalk out measures to be taken from impending insect attack.
In meeting, experts pointed out that last month, swarms of locusts entered country in three phases and travelled up to Maharashtra and Mhya Presh. But post that, y did t vance into Telangana State.

" locusts are w at Azmi vill near Ramtek in Maharashtra, which is about 200 kms away from Telangana. If locusts travel furr south, y will reach our state within a short span of time," experts observed.
chief minister n obtained latest information on location and movement of locusts. experts pointed out that re is a possibility of locusts hitting state anytime between June 20 and July 5. Around that time, season for monsoon crops will begin in Telangana.
"Crops will have sprouts by n. If locusts attack, re will be a largescale loss, as y would eat way tender crop," experts pointed out.

Alert in eight districts
CM KCR instructed that officials in eight districts bordering Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh should be on standby as re is a possibility of locusts entering Telangana from se states. Swarms of locusts may enter Bhrachalam, Charla, Venkatapuram, Vajedu, Peruru, Mangampet, Eturu Naagaram, Chennuru, Vemanapalli, Koutala, Dharmab, Bodhan, Jukkal, Banswa, Narayankhed and Zaheerab areas. "Bhrri-Kothagudem, Mulugu, Mancherial, ilab, Nirmal, Asifab, Nizamab, Kamareddy and Sangareddy district Collectors should be on alert. y should review situation from time to time and act accordingly," said KCR.

Chief secretary team to ilab
Telangana chief minister constituted a special team under leership of chief secretary Somesh Kumar to oversee measures taken to prevent locusts from entering state. Principal secretary (agriculture) Janardhan Reddy, Agriculture University VC Praveen Rao, CIPMC plant protection officer R Sunitha, Agriculture University senior scientist Rahman and ors will tour ilab for two days and review situation with district collectors. This team will monitor movement of locusts and take necessary measures.
