Telangana: Over 30 People Stranded in Floodwaters, Helicopters Deployed To Rescue Them

Helicopters have been deployed to rescue 30 people stranded in floodwaters on a low-level bridge in Bhadradri Kothagudem as heavy rainfall lashed Telangana.

Kothagudem: At least 30 people were stranded in floodwaters on a low-level bridge in Aswaraopet of Bhadradri Kothagudem as heavy rainfall in Telangana led to flood-like situations in several parts of the state. A flood rescue operation in Bhadradri Kothagudem, where 30 people were stranded in floodwaters, has been initiated. According to the district administration, two helicopters were deployed to rescue the stranded people. So far no casualties have been reported.

As per the officials, after receiving the information regarding the stranded people, authorities rushed to the spot. After heavy rains, water was reportedly released from the Peddavagu medium irrigation project in Aswaraopet mandal. Due to this, the people were left stranded on a low
Level-bridge.

More Than 10 People Have Been Rescued, Claimed Sources

A rescue operation was launched to evacuate the stranded people.

Meanwhile, several dramatic visuals have also surfaced on social media, showing stranded people sitting on trees as heavy rains flooded the area. According to the authorities, more than 10 people were rescued from floodwaters in the flooded area.

IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall in Telangana And Neighbouring States

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Telangana between July 18 and July 21. "Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated/some places over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat State, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka during next 5 days.”

Apart from this, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are also likely to receive heavy rainfall during July 18th-20th, Tamil Nadu is likely to receive rainfall on July 18th and 19th and Telangana during July 18th-21st, predicted the IMD.
