Telangana RTC unions to call off strike if govt takes back fired employees unconditionally

As strike by Telangana State Ro Transport Corp. (TSRTC) employees entered its 47th day on Wednesday, unions said y were rey to call it off if state government was willing to take back 51,000-plus employees into service unconditionally. On October 5, employees were fired for going on a strike against government.
state government is yet to react to offer. Earlier, Telangana chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, or KCR, h given an ultimatum to TSRTC employees to return to work by 5 vember, or y will be considered “self-dismissed". KCR also said that 5,100 private vehicles will be given permits to run on TSRTC routes.
Earlier, government h however asked m to join back after giving an undertaking that y would t be part of any Unions. employees declined offer and w say that y are rey to call off strike and join back provided government does t keep any conditions.

Demand for merger temporarily dropped
Almost 15 TSRTC employees were taken into custody on Saturday when y were protesting in front of Farooq Nagar bus depot in Telangana. RTC joint action committee has called for a 'bus roko' protest in Telangana. Section 144 has also been imposed in State. Meanwhile, protestors have decided to temporarily drop ir main demand for Corporation's merger with government. Joint action committee took step after Government showed signs of reacting to employee's demands after its 41st day of protest. protestors have been demanding several demands including revision of pay and asking for TRSTC to merge with Government.

Over 20 deaths of TSRTC employees reported
On vember 15, ar RTC employee passed away after suffering a mental shock. According to reports, deceased, identified as P Nshwar, h suffered a mental shock after Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s anuncement to dismiss all striking RTC employees if y did t return to work by vember 5. Following incident, Government anunced ex gratia and a house for family of deceased. Ar TSRTC driver allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday in Mahabubab district as indefinite stir by employee' unions entered 40th day. A Naresh (45), consumed a poisous substance at his house in wee hours and was rushed to a hospital where he died without responding to treatment, police said. According to reports, more than 20 TSRTC employees have lost ir life due to suicide or heart attacks.

About strike
Telangana State Ro Transport Corporation (TSRTC) strike has been going on over a month w. employees started a strike on October 5. Transport Corporation Joint Action Committee has been demanding for merger of Regional Transport Committee with Telangana government. y are also asking for prohibition of electric buses. According to reports, ever since beginning of strike, more than 2,000 busses have remained grounded in State. After TSRTC employee, Srinivas Reddy, who died after allegedly immolating himself, protests also broke out in different parts of city and or places, with employees raising slogans and holding state government responsible for his death.
