Mobile Control Post (MCP) vehicle reaches Kolkata airport after Kozhikode plane mishap

The mobile control post(Mobile Control Post) vehicle, which was commissioned by the Airports Authority of India(AAI) on 30 April reached the Kolkata airport.

Mobile Command Post (MCP) vehicle, which was commissioned by Airports Authority of India (AAI) on 30th of April, reached Kolkata airport on Wednesday, amidst Coronavirus lockdown imposed by state government. move, a precautionary one, has been taken after Kozhikode plane mishap last week.

reason behind vehicle coming to city was solely precautionary after an Air India Express plane crash-landed at Kozhikode airport on August 7, killing 18 people including two pilots. According to Airports Authority of India (AAI), vehicle cost a whopping Rs 46,36,220 and it has got a compartment where facilities are mounted for use on site, primarily for rescue operations or unlawful situations, as and when need for same would ever arrive. 

" vehicle serves an amalgamation point where all liaison officers, belonging to various cooperating ncies can assemble to plan and coordinate rescue operations", said AAI.

" vehicle can also be used to establish an emergency area for uninjured survivors, and also secure or provide any kind of assistance required at Tri area and arrange speedy evacuation of injured casualty cases inside hospital. vehicle also helps in liaison with concerned airline to transport casualties who have t been injured to Survivors Receptors Centre(SRC), establishing communication with Crisis Manment Centre(CMC) and Airport Operation Control Centre" furr ded Airports authority. 

As per Airports Authority of India (AAI), Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting services are ones who are responsible for deployment of vehicle as quickly as possible, at a distance which is t less than 90 meters upwind from accident site of aircraft.

Post Kozhikode plane crash on 7th of August, where an Air India Express flight from Dubai to Kozhikode h overshot tabletop runway before plunging 35 feet below  valley and split into two parts, government has come up with extremely stringent measures at airports across country to tackle any kind of untoward incidents in future.
