TN CM Condemns Hindi Month Valedictory Event at Doordarshan, DMK Students Wing Stages Protest

Chennai: Chief Minister M K Stalin on Friday strongly condemned Doordarshan kendra Chennai's Hindi month valedictory function in which Tamil Nu Goverr R N Ravi presided as chief guest and DMK students wing std a protest condemning Centre.

Stalin, registering his protest, said in a multilingual nation, celebrating Hindi month in n-Hindi-speaking states, "is seen as an attempt to belittle" or langus. "I strongly condemn celebration of Hindi Month valedictory function along with golden jubilee celebrations of Chennai Doordarshan. Hon’ble @PMOIndia, Constitution of India does t grant national langu status to any langu," Chief Minister said in a post on 'X'.

Furrmore, he said: "refore, I suggest that holding such Hindi-oriented events in n-Hindi speaking states could be avoided, and inste, celebration of local langu month in respective states should be encourd." DMK students' wing members gared in front of DD Tamil office where goverr attended valedictory this evening. wing's president R Rajiv Gandhi said BJP -led government was consistently involved in attempts to impose Hindi on n-Hindi speaking states.

"This is condemnable. DMK and a majority of political parties in state are opposing move to thrust Hindi on Tamil Nu. But, Centre is only ding fuel to fire," Gandhi told reporters later.
