The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) is a selection board of the government of Tamil Nadu which is responsible for governing the recruitment of aspiring personnel into the state's public service.
TNPSC releases notifications every year for various posts, and the selection process is carried out through a written test. The tests are divided into different groups like Group 1, Group 2, Group 2a, Group 3, Group 4, and so on. Every group examination requires a specific educational qualification level. Group 1 and 2 exams require a degree, Group 3 have the eligibility criteria of minimum HSC or degree with 60% in their academics, whereas Group 4 has a minimum qualification requirement of 10th pass or its equivalent.
Apart from education, an aspirant is also expected to meet the physical requirements to qualify for a given position. Detailed information is available on their website.
Application Process
The application can be made both online and offline.
The payment needs to be made through net banking or a credit/debit card.
Process of online application
- A candidate will need to register before applying for a position by paying a one-time registration fee Rs. 150.
- Select the position you wish to apply for and upload the requested documents.

- Preliminary Exam
- Mains Exam
- Interview

Test Syllabus and Books
Every exam has its own syllabus, which is based on the books by 'TN Samacheer.' So the candidates need to prepare only with the Samacheer Books. There are also several institutes offering training for the TNPSC exams, but the book alone should suffice.
