Traffic between Gauchar and Karnaprayag on the Badrinath National Highway in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand has been severely disrupted due to repeated landslides in the region, an official reported on Tuesday.

According to the district magistrate, "around 250-300 vehicles are stuck in Karnaprayag while around 200 vehicles are stuck in Gauchar." The administration is actively working to provide food and accommodation for the passengers who have been stranded since Monday.

The local administration has made arrangements in Chattwapipal, and langars are being organized by the municipalities of Karnaprayag and Gauchar. Additionally, hotel and lodge facilities are being made available to the affected passengers.

Since Monday, Chattavapipal has been experiencing continuous landslides, which have obstructed the national highway. Chamoli District Officer Sandeep Tiwari stated that "due to the frequent closure of the highway, information about alternative roads is also being provided to the passengers." To manage the situation, passengers are being redirected to Gauchar via Khal-Sarmola on Pokhari Road from Karnaprayag.

Tiwari also noted that the closure of the national highway has led to long queues of vehicles on both sides of Gauchar and Karnaprayag. To alleviate the congestion, vehicles coming down from Badrinath are being halted at Nandprayag, Chamoli, Pipalkoti, and Joshimath. Vehicles heading towards Gauchar and beyond have been stopped at Rudraprayag to minimize passenger inconvenience.
