Tragedy Strikes Uttarakhand: Three Swept Away in River Incidents
Akash and Sandeep went to take a bath on the banks of the river in the morning when they were swept away by strong currents, police said.
In a heartbreaking series of events on Sunday, three individuals, including a 12-year-old boy, were washed away in separate river incidents in Uttarakhand, police reported.
In the first incident, two youths from Delhi drowned while bathing in the Ganga river in Shivpuri, near Rishikesh. The victims, identified as Akash (23) and Sandeep (23), both residents of Delhi's Okhla, had arrived at Shivpuri around 2 AM with friends Sachin, Rajiv Chaudhary, and Mahesh. “Akash and Sandeep went to take a bath on the banks of the river in the morning when they were swept away by strong currents,” police stated. A team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has initiated a search operation, but the duo remains unaccounted for. Their families have been informed of the tragic incident.
In a separate incident, a 12-year-old boy was swept away by the Kosi river near Puchhdi village in Ramnagar, Nainital. The child was bathing with his father and two siblings when he was caught by strong currents at around 4 PM. The SDRF quickly launched a search operation and successfully recovered the child's body from the river.
Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution while bathing in rivers, especially during times of strong currents.
