Family in distress
This will affect Anuradha's mobility for the rest of her life and even her right leg will take months to heal as it also had multiple fractures. She was the breadwinner of her family which has already spent around Rs 7 lakh for the treatment, out of which Rs 5 lakh will be covered under insurance. The situation is dire and the family has to resort to asking financial help from friends and relatives. Anuradha Rajeshwari used to work as an accountant in a city hotel.

FIR against lorry driver, not flagpost raisers
What's more striking is that the police after an investigation has filed an FIR only against the lorry driver who ran over the vehicle on Anuradha. No case or action has been taken yet against those responsible for erecting the AIADMK flagposts after taking permission from the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation. According to sources, the AIADMK flag posts were serially placed as decoration for the wedding function of AIADMK functionary Yoga Master Swami Bomivardhan. The posts were kept for a distance of 5 km each.

Madras HC's call fell on deaf ears
The Madras High Court had previously come down hard on the Tamil Nadu government over illegal hoardings. A day after a 23-year old woman techie came under the wheels of a water tanker after she fell down losing balance when an illegal hoarding crashed on her in a city suburb in September, the court asked if the government will take a firm stand against such unauthorised banners. It wondered how many more lives should be lost as a result of such banners, endangering the lives of people.
