Tripura High Court bans animal sacrifice; receives mixed responses
The Tripura High Court's order to ban the tradition of animal sacrifice in temples in connection to a PIL has drawn a mixed response from people in the state.

Tripura High Court's order to ban trition of animal sacrifice in temples has drawn a mixed response from people in state. court h, on Friday, declared a ban on -old trition. order came as a response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Subhash Bhattacharjee who is a retired judge.
Disturbing to all
PIL said that practice of animal and bird sacrifice in temples was very disturbing to all and in fact, makes place of God unholy with bloodshed. While most of people have welcomed judgment, re also have been questions coming in from some.

bench that delivered verdict that said, " person including state shall be allowed to sacrifice any animal/bird within precincts of any one of temples within State of Tripura...", included Chief Justice Sanjoy Karol and Justice Arindam Lodh.

Some feel that court should t intervene
Tripura royal scion and former state Congress president, Pryot Kishore Manikya Debbarman, being an animal lover, welcomed judgement. However, he also ded that High Court has overruled provision of merger agreement that was signed between Maharani Kanchan Prabha Devi and Goverr-General of India on October 15, 1949.

He said that that agreement clearly said that move has to be done in House of Parliament as per provision and agreement signed between n 'Maharani' ahe of merger. court is t supposed to overrule it. He also went on to argue that decision cant be partial and that if court has banned animal sacrifice in temples, n it should also ban animal sacrifice during Eid.

Meanwhile, he of Agartala Ramakrishna Mission, Hitakamanandaji Maharaj also said that court should keep away from this. But on or hand, most of general public has been positively inclined towards move.
