TRS wades into farmers' protest row, KCR extends support to 'Bharat Bandh' on Dec 8

In a statement, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao appealed to party workers to make the December 8 bandh called by farmers successful in Telangana.

Telangana Chief Minister and TRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday extended party's total support to Bharat Bandh called on December 8 by farmers agitating against Centre's newly enacted farm laws in Delhi. In a statement, Chief Minister appealed to party workers to make bandh successful in Telangana.

"CM KCR believes that fight needs to continue until new agricultural laws are repealed. TRS party will work for success of Bharat Bandh and CM has requested people of Telangana to make bandh a success and stand for farmers," statement said.

KCR supported struggle of farmers against agricultural laws brought by Centre and recalled that TRS h also opposed farm bills in Parliament stating that "it harms interests of farmers". "KCR recalled and reminded that since Farm Bills would harm interests of farmers, TRS opposed m in Parliament. KCR felt that re is a need to continue agitation till Farm Bills are withdrawn," statement said.

Upping ante, farmers protesting against Centre's new farm laws anunced a Bharat bandh on December 8 and threatened to intensify ir agitation by blocking more ros leing to national capital if government does t accept ir demands. This hardening of stand came ahe of fifth round of talks with government.

dressing a press conference later, one of leers Gurnam Singh Choni said if Centre does t scrap three farm laws, agitations will intensify. He ded that farmers will protest against central government and corporate houses by burning ir effigies. He also said sportspersons will return ir medals on December 7 in solidarity with farmers.

Centre to hold 6th round of talks on December 9

dressing media after fifth round of talks with farmers unions that ended in a delock on Saturday, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar stated that government will deliberate on all demands of farmers. He also anunced that next round of talks with farmer leers will be held on December 9.

"On December 9, a meeting will be held again. We have told farmers that government will examine all ir demands. It will be our attempt to reach a solution. It would have been easier for us to reach a solution if we got suggestions from farmer leers. We will still wait for that," he ded.
