Trupti Desai: 'Will visit Sabarimala Temple as it is our Constitutional right'

Women rights activist Trupti Desai on Tuesday said that she will visit Sabarimala temple as it is her Constitutional right. Desai will be accompanied by several or women during her visit. Desai and a few or activists who landed at Kochi International Airport early Tuesday have been taken to Kochi city police commissioner.
Speaking to media Desai said, "Today is Constitution Day and on this day, we will go to Sabarimala temple as it is our right. rights under Constitution allow us to pray to God and right to equality, which is somewhere taken away from us despite Supreme Court's order that re is stay on women's entry in Sabarimala temple. So we will go inside temple today."

" one can stop us wher it is local police or government because if y stop us n it is a contempt of court. Even if y want to stop us n y should give that in writing to us that we cant go inside shrine," she said.
She said that y preferred vember 26 to visit shrine as it was Constitution Day. She said that she has come up with 2018 order of Supreme Court permitting entry of women of all groups into Lord Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala. activist said, "y ask to us bring court's order if you want to enter shrine, well I say to m to show us order that says we are t allowed to enter temple. This is an attempt to diminish voice of women, we have come from different states and we will t go back till we enter Sabarimala temple."
On being asked if she had asked for her security and protection from government, Desai said, "I have written to Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, Kerala Chief Minister and DGP here demanding security. Wher we get that or t we will visit temple today."

SC's verdict on Sabarimala
State government has made it clear that re is a "defacto" stay and cant allow women until re is some legal clarity on recent Sabarimala verdict. Minister for Devasom board has already informed that y will t allow any women activist to Sabarimala is t a place to prove someone's activism.

Supreme Court had lifted a traditional ban on entry of women of menstrual (10-50 years) on September 28 last year. Despite apex court's ruling, a string of protests took place at Sabarimala temple and its surrounding areas in state, when several women attempted to visit shrine but were stopped by Lord Ayyappa devotees.
