TSRTC protest: Seven cops injured in stone-pelting, over 1,200 nabbed

As many as seven policemen were injured after Telangana State Ro Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees on Saturday pelted stones at cops while staging a protest march near Tank Bund. Over 1,200 people have been arrested so far, said Hyderab Police Commissioner. A few protesters also sustained injuries during 'Million March' by TSRTC employees. demonstration was supported by opposition parties of state.
According to police, Joint Action Committee (JAC) of TSRTC employees supported by some frontal organisations of Maoists and ir allies like PDSU, RSU along with opposition political parties h sought permission to st 'Chalo Tank Bund' protest. However, request was turned down by police.

Speaking to media Hyderab City Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar said, " RTC employees violated police order and mobilized various people from several districts of Telangana. y tried to come to Tank Bund area but y were prevented by police successfully. protesters pelted stones at police officers and seven police personnel got injured including senior officers of rank of ditional DCP and ACP."

"In order to stop violent mob, police lathi-charged protestors and dispersed crowd. Cases have been registered against leers and those who participated in stone-pelting and mob violence. Over 1266 people have been arrested so far," he ded.

Telangana High Court h on Thursday directed state government to hold discussions with striking employees of TSRTC to resolve over one-month long strike. High Court also expressed its displeasure over mismatch of information about TSRTC in government's submission before it and posted case for hearing on vember 11.

Telangana State Ro Transport Corporation (TSRTC) strike has been going on over a month w. employees started a strike on October 5. Transport Corporation Joint Action Committee has been demanding for merger of Regional Transport Committee with Telangana government. y are also asking for prohibition of electric buses.
According to reports, ever since beginning of strike, more than 2,000 busses have remained grounded in state. After TSRTC employee, Srinivas Reddy, who died after allegedly immolating himself, protests also broke out in different parts of city and or places, with employees raising slogans and holding state government responsible for his death. Furr, employees are also blaming government for t taking any action even after two TSRTC employees have died.
