TSRTC strike: Employees unions willing to sit for talks once again

TSRTC employees are willing to talk once again with the Telangana government to arrive at a resolution. The workers have been protesting for 23 days now

A day after talks between TSRTC manment and unions over various demands failed to achieve a breakthrough, agitating employees on Sunday expressed willingness to come for talks again before October 28.

Blaming RTC manment for failure of talks held on Saturday, employees union's leer Aswathama Reddy said y were willing to sit on negotiating table anytime before court hearing. "We are willing to come for discussions any time before court time tomorrow. We are rey even today. IAS officers, who were part of state government team engd in discussions, should t spre misinformation that we left half way through talks," Reddy told reporters here. Telangana High Court h earlier directed government and agitating employees to sit for parleys find a solution to matter and submit a report on October 28. After talks on Saturday, RTC Managing Director Sunil Sharma h said Telangana High Court h directed that 21 demands of employees should be discussed, but unions wanted discussion on all ir grievances, including merger of RTC with government, which was t acceptable. He h said y requested union leers to discuss 21 demands, but latter did t agree to it and went outside venue to hold discussions with or union leers. manment waited till 6.30 PM for leers to return, but y did t turn up, he h said. Aswathama Reddy also alleged that y were t allowed to carry ir cellphones to venue. "se cant be called talks," he h said. Meanwhile, strike by various unions of RTC entered 23rd day, leaving lakhs of commuters in lurch.

indefinite fast by CPI's state Assistant Secretary K Sambasiva Rao at party's office here in support of strike by RTC employees, entered second day. Rao told PTI that hunger strike would continue until government amicably resolves employees' problems. indefinite strike by different employees and workers unions of transport corporation began from October 5 across Telangana on a call by JAC of RTC, pressing a charter of demands including, merger of RTC with government.
