Twitter hack: Maharashtra Cyber asks social media sites to be alert

In the backdrop of hacking of Twitter accounts of eminent US personalities, Maharashtra Cyber has asked the microblogging site and other social media platforms to take measures to ensure privacy and data security of users, an official has said.

In backdrop of hacking of Twitter accounts of eminent US personalities, Maharashtra Cyber has asked microblogging site and or social media platforms to take measures to ensure privacy and data security of users, an official has said. He said cyber wing of state has told Twitter that safety and security of accounts of prominent persons and or verified users was its responsibility.

Maharashtra Cyber has sent also communication to or social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, asking m to stake steps to protect data and ensure privacy of ir account-holders, official said. In backdrop of security breach suffered by Twitter a few days ago, re is a need to be vigilant and protect Indian cyber, he said.

" cyber wing is thus being vigilant about possibility of any such incident happening in India," he said.

Since several Indian public personalities and millions of ors use Twitter frequently, cyber wing has sent communication to popular microblogging site and or platforms, official said. We have asked Twitter to inform us about any cyber security breach that might target Indian users and prominent Indian profiles, he said.

Maharashtra Cyber has also asked or social media platforms to be on lookout for any threat and promptly inform ncy in case of a security breach, official said. During pandemic, if any wrong, unverified information gets circulated through those handles or accounts, re is a possibility of verse impact on law and order situation in state, he said.
